NYC 9/11 Public Portal Document
Lead & EODE Biweekly April 10,2002
Present: N Jeffrey, D Nagin, J. Nival, K Mahoney
1) WTC activities: a) working with ATSDR on comprehensive report on indoor air studies/due end of MAY. J Miller to start to be part of this process as of 4/11. b) Hotline- very few calls (13 @day); will see if these calls can go to call center and then routed to EODE unit or DEP. However, as city gets ready to clean outside of buildings will this generate new calls with NEW questions? NJ will follow up. c) FEMA/EPA has been asked for resources for indoor/background air sampling in 14 bldgs only. Will sample for silica/phs’/dioxins/lead/fiberglass/asbestos/and? 2) Rhabdomyolysis investigation- (NYPD) draft questionnaire almost ready/being reviewed by unions & management /this an outbreak investigation not a study-no control group. 3) Mold- NYC DOH still seen as locus of expertise/ Chris usually averages one hour per day on assistance calls. Unit is to remeet (dropped when 911 occurred) with HPD, DOH law and EHRS to develop agreed upon mold enforcement/ investigation approach and protocol. Part of this will entail benchmarking of what other localities are doing. This does not have a time frame as of yet. However, OEI is to do the DOH investigations. 4) LEAD: a) there is another HPD mtg scheduled but first DOH will meet internally with program and legal to identify areas of agreement. b) HPD is really pushing for press release/S Mullin has working draft. This is release of 2001 data not surveillance report. c) DOH is close to resolution of NYPRIRG settlement. Law Dept to write a settlement agreement to coincide with data release. d) Poison Control data issue resolved since they are getting boro wide not zip code data. e) ECLRS- program is receiving lab data from hadi maki initiative with labs. f) program is reviewing audit recommendations in order to implement all suggestions for 6 month review. g) safe houses- again more info sent to MOC./Annual evaluations will take place beginning of may/termination recommendations if any need to be documented and sent to KM/IW. h) personnel- km to follow up with 3 rs postings and Cramaswaray if approved for AIDS/HIV surveillance.
