EVALUATION CRITERIA

Currently, there are no regulatory standards for indoor air quality in non-industrial buildings, such as offices and schools.

Table 1 lists the target guideline for the parameter that ATC evaluated during this investigation. ” Meeting the listed value does not assure that acceptable indoor air quality will be achieved at all times.

TABLE 1 TARGET GUIDELINES FOR INDOOR AIR QUALITY PARAMETERS EVALUATED* ■ •PARAIVIETER' TARGET Levee AGENCY OR ORGANIZATION

Respirable Particulates 65 micrograms per cubic meter of USEPAN PA AQS (PMx5) ■ air (pg/m^) 24 hour average USEPA = United States Environmental Protection Agency NPAAQS = National Primary Ambient-Air Quality Standard

real-time sampling results

A total of four (4) outdoors respirable particulates measurements were collected. The lAQ field report forms are provided as the Attachment.

The four (4) outdoors respirable particulate concentrations* were ranged between 32 pg/np to 36 pg/m3. None of the measurements were above the NPAAQS of 65 pg/m^ 24-hour average concentration of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers or less in aerodynamic diameter.

Note: The measurements made during this assessment were instantaneous readings, the NPAAQS is a 24-hour average.

CONCLUSION

Based on our observations and measurements of the specified parameters and locations as requested by the Parents Association consultant, ATC concludes that the outdoor air quality at the assessed locations were acceptable at the time of ATC’s investigation.

It is our pleasure to provide these indoor air consultative services to the New York City Board of Education. If you have any questions about this report, please contact me at (212) 353-8280, extension 261 or 212. ,
