Ke: Air Sampling for Mercury Vapor P.S.89MA2.3hhi ' ATC Project No. 15-19125-0297

Dear Mr. Orlan;

ATC Associates, Inc. (ATC) is pleased to provide this letter report of air sampling for mercury (Hg) vapor conducted on May 30, June 6, 13 and June 20, 2002, at the referenced school. The ; New York City Board of Education (BOE) requested this sampling at the recommendation of Environ Corp., a consultant to the parents association.

On each day ATC collected four (4) samples for Hg vapor using Carulite® (Hydrar) tubes connected to battery-powered sampling pumps calibrated to collect 0.2 liters of air per minute. One (1) samples were collected indoors and three (3) were collected outdoors. The samples were sent to PSC Analytical Services, Inc., an American Industrial Hygiene Association-accredited laboratory in Reading, PA. One blank tube was also submitted per day. Analysis was performed by means of a mercury vapor analyzer according to NIOSH Method 6009. Copies of the analytical laboratory reports are attached.

Tenzin Namgyal, Wagdi Abdelshahid and Prasad Doddapaneni, Industrial Hygienists from ATC’s New York City' office, conducted the sampling consistent with accepted industrial hygiene practices, The results represent the conditions on the days the samples were collected.

The sampling locations were: 1®' floor hallway outside cafeteria, playground (north), playground* (south) and ,roof

Mercury (Hg) was detected in these samples at levels that were indistmguishable from those detected in the blanks..

ATC appreciates the opportunity to provide this indoor air quality service to the BOE. Please call (212) 353-8280 extension 212 or extension 290 if you have any questions.

Sincerely, ATC Associates, Inc. Reviewed
