After the catastrophic event at the World Trade Center, the Division of Facilities Management and Construction, Environmental Services, conducted extensive environmental surveys, collected v^dpe samples and monitored the air.

The dust samples were collected from various floors and were analyzed under the Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) method. Ten percent (10%) of these samples were also analyzed under the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) method. Both methods are described in the Federal guideline number 40 CFR Part 763, subpart F, appendix A, of the National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) and in 40 CPR part 763, subpart E appendix A.

The building’s air was monitored and analyzed under Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) method; in accordance with Federal regulations of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 7400.

All dust and air samples collected were analyzed at ICAM Consultant Laboratory. No asbestos presence was detected in either the dust or the air samples.
