Re: Limited settled dust bulk sampling for fiberglass at P.S. 150M
Dear Mr. Orlan:
At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representative Mr. Yiannis Efstathiou visited P.S. 150M
located at 334 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10013 on March 18, 2002. The purpose of the
site visit was to perform a settled dust bulk sampling to be analyzed for fiberglass fiber content
on areas indicated to ATC by ENVIRON Corp, the Parents Association environmental consultant
and approved by New York City Board of Education (NYC-BOE). These areas are the
following:
• D‘ Floor Lobby
• Multipurpose room
• Two random classrooms
The purpose of the dust bulk sampling is to determine if settled dust in the school contains
fiberglass fibers. ATC will be repeating this sampling preferably every Monday as per the
recommendation of ENVIRON and after the approval ofNYC-BOE. This is the 9th consecutive
week such a sampling is performed in P.S. 150M.
As per your request, a total of four (4) settled dust bulk samples were collected from the
aforementioned areas and were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
Analytical results indicated that none of the four (4) collected settled dust bulk samples contain
fiberglass fibers.
The settled dust bulk sampling performed was limited to testing for fiberglass in locations
indicated by ENVIRON and as outlined in the school’s BOE approved sampling protocol.
