Re: Limited settled dust bulk sampling for fiberglass at Stuyvesant HS (M477)

Dear Mr. Orlan:

At your request, ATC Associates, Inc. representatives Mr. Herant Antonyan and Mr. Jimmy Choy visited Stuyvesant HS (M477) located at 345 Chambers Street, New York, NY 10007 on October 3H', 2001. The purpose of the site visit was to perform a settled dust bulk sampling to be analyzed for fiberglass fiber content on areas indicated in H.A. BADER Consultants, Inc. letter to Stuyvesant HS parents dated October 10, 2001. These areas are the following;

• r and 2"“ floors lobby • Classrooms with unit ventilators on the North, East and South side of the building • Two hallway areas • H' floor swimming pool area • 3'^ floor gymnasium area • 5"' floor cafeteria area • Auditorium area

At the time of ATC’s site visit it was no possible to collect a settled dust bulk sample from the swimming pool area because the floor was wet.

The purposed of the dust bulk sampling is to determine if settled dust in the school contains fiberglass fibers. ATC will be repeating this sampling preferably every Wednesday as per the recommendation of H.A. BADER Consultants, Inc. and after the approval of NYC-BOE. This is the third week such a sampling is performed in Stuyvesant HS.

As per your request, a total of ten (10) settled dust bulk samples were collected from the aforementioned areas and were analyzed utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).

Analytical results indicated that none of the ten (10) collected settled dust bulk samples contain fiberglass fibers.
