VIIL Special Considerations TKLP

CADD CapabiUties TKLP has extensive computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) resources for use on our clients' projects as appropriate for all stages of design development and documentation. TKLP has over 40 workstations, a digitizer and several plotters currently run on a single­ shift basis. We have fully trained staff in the creative and effective application of CADD techniques is an ongoing policy supported by an in-house programming staff.

TKLP has used its CADD system in varying capacities ranging from 100% CADD docu­ mentation of the new Glaxo Scale-up project to 80% CADD documentation for the 900,000 SF Sterling Winthrop, Inc., Research and Development Center. TKLP has used CADD files from clients in order to show new work in proximity to old work for renovation and addi­ tions projects, such as Bristol-Myers in Morrisville, NC.

The benefit to the project of using CADD systems is that all disciplines reference the base architectural drawings, so that any changes or modifications to the plans are immediately available for coordination and checking purposes, thereby maintaining constant produc­ tion quality control. TKLP engineers and architects use CADD in an interactive manner. We have professionals in all disciplines with hands-on CADD experience as weU as de­ signers and drafters with CADD capability.

Current CADD applications at TKLP include land planning and mapping, facility pro­ gramming, space planning and building design, architectural and engineering construc­ tion document preparation, cost estimating, and facilities management.

TKLP uses discipline-specific CADD software such as Intergraph Micro Architect, MRC CAD HVAC, UIGRDS, AutoCAD, LANDCADD and CAPS. TKLP can run Intergraph Microstation version 3.3/4.0 or AutoCAD version 10 and 11 on all of the firm's worksta­ tions. TKLP owns software which allows us to communicate with most major CADD-ven- dor systems using the Drawing Exchange Format (DXF) or other appropriate formate. TKLP has demonstrated the compatibility of our CADD software systems both internally and through translation to consultant and owner CADD systems.

TKLP can provide tapes of all documentation for use by the owner on their own CADD system. TKLP can provide facilities management-level drawings upon completion of project documentation, and can also provide record drawings using construction as-built records as an additional service.
