V. Scope of Services / Approach TKLP

Please specifically describe how your firm will handle computer hardware planning and telecommu nications for the office space. TKLP has anticipated that the architect will locate the communication spaces and the City will locate the computer hardware. TKLP will locate air conditioning, cabling, and power distribu tion.

For what disciplines do you typically use consultants? We normally use consultants for sound and acoustics which is part of the fitout architectural proposal and in New York City for code agency/permits and expediting.

Please address your participation in the successful design of this project. TKLP and our experience with the team that has been assigned will bring success to this de sign. A. Ralston has considerable experience in both data center design planning and reliability issues and will be directing in addition to being a technical resource for this team. TKLP's team will lead the project participants through the selections, refinements, and approvals of the design phases, and prepare contract documents with an experienced, highly-coordinated delivery system. TKLP's unusually broad range of specialty services support TKLP's project team through a formal, organized construction administration process designed to support the client's dynamic needs.

Why would communication and the team approach be better if we chose your firm? We have worked with FCTPA before. Their engineering representative, Abe Pitsirilos, is aware of what we can do and we know what he wants. We have worked with the City's technical division's consultant before in the MEP design of his data center. We understand his stan dards and what he is seeking. Commissioner Giannotti has attended A. Ralston's seminars on computer design and has shown us his planning. His plan conforms to work we have done. Our management system uses a formalized communication system through the establishment of design criteria, basis of design, and within the City's reliability program. In 1982, we de signed and developed the reliability program, portions of which are included in the RFP. The planning and communications concepts included within the system were developed by us. It is these communications elements and our knowledge of our client and the user that will give us a tremendous advantage in communications.
