This meeting was chaired by Bovis, one of the prime contractors.
Topics discussed that may be of interest included:
- Report of a very large amount of what appears to be industrial grease located in the north-east comer of the pit. - EPA and DEC to investigate.
- Site evacuation alarm to be tested at noon on Friday, Jan 18.
- The Ground Zero Emergency Notification Number - 212-747-9193 is currently out of service. Until corrected, all WTC related emergencies should be reported to FDNY Manhattan Dispatch at 212-570-4261.
- Eight RAMS (Real-time Air Monitoring Stations) to be installed by ATC Environmental around the perimeter of the inner zone.
- Plans are being made to shrink the zone within the next couple of weeks. Plans are to remove the fence at the outer perimeter, leaving the inner perimeter as the zone.
- OSHA Analysis of bulk samples indicated a maximum level of 0.9 ppm of mercury. This sample was collected in the vicinity of 6 WTC. This level was reported to be within normal background levels for NYC. The maximum level of mercury detected at the Staten Island Landfill site was 0.1 ppm. Air monitoring results were non-detect for mercury. OSHA indicated that copies of their results are available in their office. I have asked if the info they have in their office is any different than the information posted on the internet. When I get this info. I'll pass it along.
- Lake Zero, the ponding of water in the lowest part of the excavation, was dewatered sometime during the past week. I understand that Mike Burton, Deputy Commissioner DDC, spoke to someone at DEP an advised that the presence of the water was interfering with the rescue efforts and that it needed to be removed. DDC was given the go ahead. Bob L. - Are you aware of this?

N.B. Last week, I asked Bob Adams, DDC, for copies of the analysis of the groundwater being discharged as part of the slurry wall pumping operation. He said he will get me a copy. I will forward this as well as any other water quality data he provides.
