NYC 9/11 Public Portal Document

A lA— ii Robert IS From: Hagerty, Steve [[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, August 27,2002 3:26 PM To: '[email protected]' Cc: Gair, Brad; Chacon, Emily; Connolly, Gerald; Melnick, Walter Subject: NYC DoHMH's - Summary of Contaminants by Concern Bob, Since DEP is the City agency leading the Indoor Residential Cleaning and Testing Program, FEMA would like to know if DEP is aware of and in support of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene project to “assess and communicate technical environmental issues” to residents of lower Manhattan?

At this point it is our understanding that DOHMH will summarize, by contaminant of concern, test results collected by various City, state and federal agencies in lower Manhattan. DOHMH also plans to hire a “Communications Expert,” a “Public Relations / Writer,” and a “Graphic Artist” to work with the Mayor’s Office to communicate this information to the public. Given the lack of information from DOHMH about the Communications / PR / Graphic Artist portion of the project and the fact that FEMA has already written a PW for $1.7 million to the Mayor’s Office for dissemination of critical information, the DOHMH Communications / PR / Graphic Artist costs are likely not eligible.

Before proceeding with preparation of the DOHMH PW, we would like your approval of this project. Please respond as soon as possible since we have an August 31®* deadline for completing all grants.

Thank you,

Stephen H. Hagerty NYC Operations Federal Emergency Management Agency (212) 416-0317-office (847) 571-6403-cell (212) 667-8987-fax
