As pre /iously discussed, the Department of Education has requested a letter from me supporting the carpet remo; .1 from schools affected by the WTC incident.
Originally, I had Krish send DOE a letter stating that we were not opposed to the DOH’s strong recon mendation of support as well as USEPA’s lukewarm endorsement.
Matt .nek, Deputy Chancellor, called me again this morning and asked that I send a letter of support under my name ; o they could submit this request to FEMA. He said that FEMA wants my sign-off to consider re- imbu:..ment.
While iis great that FEMA recognizes our ability to get things done in a cost-effective manner, I am being put in a situation as keeper of the gate involving a project outside our area of responsibility. In essence, the letter will be used as a means of satisfaction to FEMA because it has my name affixed to it purely from a reimbursement perspe ctive. I know this has been discussed at City Hall, Law Department and 0MB. What do you want me to do??
