Dear Commissioner Strickland.

I am writing to urge you to move forward on the property damage claims submitled to the NYC Comptroller’s office last summer from Hurricane Irene affecting nearly 396 Queens residents, many of which reside in my district.

Immediately following the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, homeowners filed claims with the NYC comptroller’s office for flood related damage which they have determined to be city negligence. As the claijp^fprm for water damage or loss clearly indicates, “claims must be resolved within one year and 90 days of & rainstorm or the claimant must pursue legal action.” If the claims are not settled within the set timefromthedateofthc occurrence on August 28,2011 than the claimant must file a lawsuit against the Chy of New York,

All Queens tridents who filed a claim did so in a timely manner and yet, lime is quickly running out to find a settlement that would provide assistance to cover the costs tor property damage and loss. As per the Comptroller’s Office, they are still waiting on a'determinalion from DEP, Respcctfullyj I request your agency provide the Comptroller’s Office with the necessary information they need to determine fair reimbursements and not wait until legal action is taken.
