REMOVAL OF DUST, DEBRIS, AND CONTAMINATED MATERIALS
14 WORK AREA CLEARANCE
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS:
A. Visual inspection required as a prerequisite of air and wipe testing, is set forth in Section 13
Project Decontamination.
B. Air monitoring performed by the Owner during abatement work, and air and surface clearance
criteria are described in Section 05 Air and Wpe Sampling.
1.02 CONTRACTOR RELEASE CRITERIA:
A. The Work Area is cleared when the Work Area is visually clean and all contaminants have been
reduced to the levels specified in Section 05.
B. The Contractor is responsible for maintaining isolation of the work area until all abatement of
dust and debris is complete, and/or the risk of cross contamination in the building has been
eliminated.
C. Following work area clearance, the work areas must be positively pressurized to eliminate the
risk of cross contamination from other floors which have either not yet been abated or are
undergoing cleaning.
1.03 VISUAL INSPECTION:
A. Work of this Section will not begin until the visual inspection described in Section 13 Project
Decontamination is complete and has been certified by the Project Administrator.
1.04 AIR AND WIPE SAMPLING:
A. Work of this Section is described in Section 05.
1.05 LABORATORY TESTING:
A. Clearance samples shall be promptly submitted (either hand delivered or via overnight delivery) to
an independent AIHA and/or ELAP Certified Laboratory for analysis. Verbal results shall be
issued as soon as possible in order to minimize any possible delay in the progress of the Work.
Verbal results shall be followed with a certificate of analysis.
