REMOVAL OF DUST, DEBRIS, AND CONTAMINATED MATERIALS
C. Damage and defects in the decontamination enclosure system shall be repaired immediately
upon discovery.
D. At any time during the abatement activity, if visible emissions are observed, or elevated fiber or
metals levels outside the work area are measured, or if damage occurs to barriers, abatement
shall stop. The source(s) of contamination shall be located, the integrity of the barriers shall be
restored and extended to include the contaminated area, and visible residue shall be cleaned up
using appropriate HEPA-vacuuming and wet cleaning procedures.
E. All inspections and observations shall be documented in the daily project log by the supervisor.
3.05 SIGNS:
A. Post an approximately 20 inch by 14 inch manufactured caution sign at each entrance to the
Work Area displaying the following legend with letter sized and styles of a visibility required by
29 CFR1926:
1. Provide signs in English, Spanish and the predominant language of the abatement
workers.
2. Legend:
DANGER
ASBESTOS
CANCER AND LUNG DISEASE HAZARD
AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY
RESPIRATORS AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
ARE REQUIRED IN THIS AREA
3. Provide spacing between respective lines at least equal to the height of the respective
upper line.
B. Post an approximately 10 inch by 14 inch manufactured sign at each entrance to each Work
Area displaying the following legend with letter sized and styles of a visibility at least equal to the
following:
1. Provide signs in English, Spanish and the predominant language of the abatement
workers.
