REMOVAL OF DUST, DEBRIS, AND CONTAMINATED MATERIALS
12. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH): shall mean an individual with a minimum of five years
experience as an industrial hygienist and who has successfully completed both levels of the
examination administered by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and is current on all
certifications.
13. Certified Safety Professional (CSP): shall mean an individual having a bachelor's degree from
an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years experience as a safety
professional and who has successfully completed both levels of the examination administered
by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and is current on all certifications.
14. Clean Room: shall mean an uncontaminated area or room that is part of the worker
Decontamination Enclosure System with provisions for storage of workers' street clothes and
protective equipment.
15. Clearance Monitoring: shall mean the employment of aggressive air sampling techniques with a
volume of air collected to determine the airborne fungal spore, metals and asbestos
concentration, as well as wipe tests to determine acceptable levels of metals following
completion of abatement activity.
16. Curtained Doorway: shall mean a device that consists of at least three overlapping sheets of
plastic over an existing or temporarily framed doorway. One sheet shall be secured at the top
and left side, the second sheet at the top and right side, and the third sheet atthe top and left
side. Ail sheets shall have weights attached to the bottom to ensure that the sheets hang
straight and maintain a seal oxer the doorway when not in use.
17. Decontamination Enclosure System: shall mean a series of connected rooms; separated from
the work area and from each other by air locks, for the decontamination of workers, materials,
waste containers, and equipment.
18. Design Documents: shall mean abatement specification and all the sections and appendices
referenced herein.
19. EPA: shall mean the Environmental Protection Agency, 401 M Street, SW, Washington, DC
20460.
20. Equipment Room: shall mean contaminated area or room that is part of the worker
decontamination enclosure system with provisions for the storage of contaminated clothing and
equipment.
21. Ground fault circuit interrupter A circuit breaker that is sensitive to very low levels of current
leakage from a fault in an electrical system.
22. HV^: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
23. HEPA Filter: shall mean a high efficiency particulate air filter capable of trapping and retaining
99.97 percent of particles greater than 0.3 micrometers mass median aerodynamic equivalent
diameter.
24. Holding Area: shall mean a chamber in the equipment decontamination enclosure located
between the washroom and an uncontaminated area.
