13 PROJECT DECONTAMINATION

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS:

A. Removal of Gross Debris is integral to the performance of abatement work and as such is specified in Section 15 Removal of Contaminated Dust, Debris and Materials.

B. Air testing and other requirements that must be met before release of Contractor and re­ occupancy of the Work Area are specified in Section 14, Work Area Clearance, and Section 05, Air and Wipe Sampling.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.01 FIRST CLEANING:

A. After completion of the removal phase, all surfaces from which contaminated materials have been removed shall be scrubbed using nylon or bristle brushes and wet sponges, or cleaned by an equivalent method to remove all visible dust. During this work, the surfaces being cleaned shall be kept damp using an amended water solution. Ail disposable equipment shall be packaged for disposal.

B. All equipment, machinery, scaffolding, tools, etc. within the isolated Work Area shall be wet- wiped and HEPA vacuumed, moved to the equipment room, and properly removed from the Work Area.

C. Prior to the application of any sealant or encapsulating material, and after all visible material has been removed from the substrate. Ambient Group will perform a pre-sealant inspection. The Contractor shall notify Ambient Group, in writing, 24 hours prior to the time the work will be ready for inspection.

D. Following acceptance of first cleaning by Ambient Group, apply a thin coat of pigmented encapsulant to all surfaces in work area where asbestos-containing materials have been removed. Allow a minimum of 4 hours, or as further required by the encapsulant manufacturer, for sealants to dry.

E. Remove the cleaned and encapsulated layer of plastic surface barriers and dispose of as asbestos-containing waste materials.

F. Wait 12 hours to allow negative air machines to clean air of any airborne asbestos fibers.

3.02 SECOND CLEANING:
