Summary outstanding activities for 10/19/01.
OEM requests assistance in design and fatstaUation of storm water runoff form their
new HQ.
OEM has requested assistance in design and installation of a storm water management
system for their new facility being built in Gravesend, BK (W13 St & Ave Z).
Apparently, a large parking lot is being constructed and OEM has asked for assistance in
installing catch basins / storm drains. Is this something for DEP or DDC?
Health and Safety meeting
Quality of w ater to he / is being pumped from the WTC
Update: Additional sampling and analysis of the water in the basement will be conducted
by EPA. Industrial W'aste is working with DDC and their contractor on developing a
plan. DDC did not identify when dewatering would begin.
NYSDOH Jim Covey and NYSDEC qiiestioned the quiilit)’ of the water to be /is being
pumped out from the basements of the WTC and from the EA tunnel and into the
DEC has indicated that they are willing to take the lead on this issue (plan, protocol and
ultimate disposal), but they need NYC to askfor such assistance,

Dust Control
Dust control was reported as very good at two of the WTC contractors’ sites while it was
reported as fair to poor at the oilier two WTC sites. Dust suppression consultant has not
vet started.
A t the request of Mike Gilsenan, I infonned EPA of debris on the road / sidewalk on
N/E/C of Albany St between South End Ave sud West St. aiid asked for their contractors
to dean this area.
Training Opportunity’
Tire Internationa! Union of Operating Engineers will be conducting a seminar on
“Trenching and exdavaiion safety, soil analysis, use of protective systems and the
requirements of OSHA 1926.650-2 standard excavations and new ANSI standards
A10.12 excavation” on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 9:00 AM at PS 89. All are welcome.
