Following yesterday's Drought Meeting at OEM, FEMA approached me and said that DEP is in the process of submitting a request for assistance to clean buildings of debris related to the WTC Disaster in lower Manhattan and that we may want to consider, in response to the current Drought Emergency, adding a request to obtain the necessary equipment to filter / desalinate Hudson River water to use in the building cleaning efforts to this request. The request could include enough capacity to meet the other non-potable needs in the WTC area (ca. 120,000 gal/day = dust suppression activities by DOS and Contractors). FEMA said we should act quickly on this.
