State workers fiee WTC smoke Scores of jittery employ ees at the state attorney gen eral’s office a block from Ground Zero were sent home early yesterday when shifting winds filled their building with a strong smell of smoke, officials said. More than 900 state work ers are employed at the 40- story building at 120 Broad way. The smoke apparently was caused by fires smolder ing in the World Trade Cen ter wreckage. Attorney General Eliot Spitzer’s office occupies seven floors of the building, said Steve Solomon, a spokesman for Silverstein Properties, which owns the building.
