The I-Team has also confirmed Patriot Engineering the company hired by the city, is not certified to do the asbestos tests they did do, according to the American Industrial Hygiene Association. Remember our test results show asbestos levels five times more than healthy limits. "If we found these same levels in a school you would be doing cleanup of that area," says Havics. " You'd be sealing it off and doing cleanup."

Bruce Wallace, a nine year member of the Indianapolis Air Pollution Control Board is also concerned that the C.I.B's engineering firm didn't go far enough to test for asbestos. And Wallace points out the fire in the M.S.A roof two months before the implosion is significant. The roof had asbestos is it. Patriot Engineering says the fire never reached the area where the asbestos was, but Wallace questions whether patriot was qualified to make that judgment. "Once you bum non friable asbestos material you've made em friable you've made em regulated," says Wallace. That's the dangerous stuff" Translation: Before the fire the asbestos in the roof wasn't a problem. Afterwards it could have been If it was burned, and never cleaned up, did that asbestos end up in the implosion or in the neighborhood?

After the roof fire. Patriot Engineering sent a letter to the Capital Improvement Board saying there was no release of asbestos from the fire. So the C.I.B went ahead with the implosion. The board also sent out a press release warning the public to stay away saying there could be dangerous particles in the air.
