This is in response to your recent correspondences regarding the carpeting at Independence Plaza North. S Christopher O. Wart i?? The Department has been in communication with the building management and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regarding the testing and cleaning activities at Independence Plaza. According to our information, the USEPA will oversee the cleaning and testing of the common areas ^^Bobert C. AvaiMHW after the removal and disposal of the carpeting. The cleaning and monitoring will Deputy Commissioner be in accordance with the procedures for the indoor residential cleaning and testing program. :£nvlronmehtal hl reference to the sampling of carpeting using “ultrasonication” or “microvac” sampling, these methods are not approved methods for asbestos sampling.
