Miele Sr., P.E. On 9/11/01, World Trade Center 1 and 2 were attacked. Commissioner The attack resulted in the collapse of these towers and surrounding buildings. Asbestos containing material was released onto an extensive area in and around the downtown Manhattan area. The release of asbestos poses a risk to the public health, welfare, and environment.
