1.0 Introduction

At the request of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), industrial hygiene monitoring was conducted during law enforcement investigation activities at the Staten Island Landfill located on Muldoon Avenue in Steten Island, NY. Edward Olmsted, and Bernard Fontaine, representing the U.S. Public Health Service, Federal Occupational Health, New York Field Office conducted the survey. The project involved industrial hygiene monitoring over the course of three weeks to determine levels of worker exposure to fibers, total di^^^ca dust, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals. Those workers included in the monitoring were Federal law enforcement employees, and New York City police Department employees. This is report summarizes the results of sampling conducted from September through December 5,2001.
