■ B Department of Air Sampling Advisory for Asbestos Environmental Protection 59-17 Junction Boulevard The foHowing advisory was prepared to assist Corona, New York building owners/tenants with the performance ofair samplingfor asbestos 11368-5107

Joel A. Miele Sr., P.E. Commissioner Persons who perform air sampling must possess valid New York State Asbestos Project Air Sampling Technician Certificates. Air sampling analysis must be Robert C. AvaltronI performed by a laboratory with ELAP accreditation. Deputy Commissioner Bureau of A minimum of five representative samples should be collected. In addition to these Environmentai Compiiance Tel (716) 695-4418 5 samples, one representative area sample should be collected for every 5, 000 Fax (718) 695-4422 square feet above 25, 0000 square feet of floor space. The area must be dry Wore sampling.

The re-occupancy or clearance air monitoring is considered satisfactory when every PCM analysis sample is less than or equal to 0.01 fZee or every TEM analysis sample is less than 7O.s/mm^.

PCM samples exceeding the 0.01 e'en may be analyzed with TEM analysis to determine whether the measured fibers are asbestos fibers. Additional clean-up activities are necessary for re-occupancy if the levels are exceeded. ,
