Mike -
I mentioned to Charlie yesterday that we have been having very few "walk-ins" with environmental
questions for a while now. Quite different from September and most of October, when the location was
astir with people concerned about their drinking water, air quality, asbestos, dust, entry to their buildings,
clean-up of their buildings, etc. Charlie said we should shut down. I told him we would complete this
week through Saturday, 11/17 (Fred Edmond covering), and that I would leave a sheet with appropriate
DEP telephone numbers and handouts with the remaining agencies. The Public Service Commission,
Verizon, and Con Edison have already left, or moved to other locations. FEMA, SBA, EDC, DBS, and the
voluntary lawyers and CPAs remain at this time.
I believe EEDAU provided an important public service to businesses and residents in the aftermath of the
disaster. Now the DEP Helpline is better known and the services we provide as well.
