Potential Indicator Chemicals (PIC) • Mark Maddaloni did a presentation of the PICs at the April 8'*’ Task Force meeting. • Concentration has been placed on carcinogenic chemicals but non-carcinogenic chemicals should also be addressed. • Once background data is obtained, the questions of when to use background over risk-based data remains. • Settled dust analysis will be risk-based. • There will be another meeting on April 11* that will continue to address these issues. • The dioxin limits are proposed to be changed. EPA Region 2 used the existing limits. Peter Grevatt will be using the proposed. Some use both. This issue needs to be resolved. • The clearance standard for asbestos needs to be decided between monitoring or extrapolation. • The analytical methods for all PICs should be consistent. - for fibrous glass, a German SEM method will be used for air samples and PLM will be used for bulk samples. • NYC’s cleaning efforts will concentrate on asbestos which they expect would also
