I just spoke to Kathy Callahan and she gave me this update:
1) They are preparing a final write up for Congressman Nadler's office that will lay out for the Congressman where the cleanup is consistent or not consistent with the NCP. Kathy said she is pushing to have the document finalized in the next two days. Once it is finished and shared with DEP, she feels a call to the Congressman from Jane and yourself, together or separately, would be in order. This is something that can be discussed once the letter is finalized and we see what it says.
2) They had a very good briefing in Washington yesterday and feel very good about how it went, however (there's that word again) a staff member from D.C. wanted to know if the contractors that are hired will have gone through a criminal background check. It seems that during the anthrax scare, EPA had some problems with individuals who were hired. EPA is looking into the issue and how it should be addressed
3) They feel they are almost finished with the scopes. They are reviewing for inconsistencies that they have identified. Once finished, they will give to us to review. Krish has already identified areas that need to be coordinated between documents.
