Dear Desmond:
As discussed, we are experiencing water leaks into our building along the 6th Avenue perimeter wall, The leaks are constantly flowing and affecting several of our tenants.
We have tested the water to confirm that it is City water and the Water Dept. has also tested it, although they neither confirm nor deny that the leak is City water. As a matter of fact, there is a constant pool of water on the west side of 6th avenue between 50th & 49th Street near a fire hydrant, that appears to be related to our leaking condition. We have seen Con Ed and Bell Atlantic trucks on 6th Avenue pumping massive amounts of water out of manholes, so there must be a significant water problem below street-level.
We have spent approximately $15,000 to-date to divert and channel the incoming leak to a sump pump and a drain. As you can imagine, our tenants are not very happy about the situation. Fortunately, we have been able to minimize the damage so far.
We need more cooperation from the City departments to eliminate the leaking condition.
Attached are 8 emails detailing our efforts with the City Water Dept. to attempt to get there cooperation to fix the leak. To date no digging has occurred that would help locate the source of the leak.
Thank you for your assistance and copperation in the above matter.
