David Martinez --------------------------------------- P .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-, Re: Acct. P

Dear Mr. Martinez:

I have been advised by the Mayor's Office that you recently complained about a high water bill. The Mayor's Office asked that I review your account and respond directly to you. I checked the records for your property and my findings are noted below.

The records indicate that you have been billed on actual meter readings since August 1994. Your average daily consumption has fluctuated over the period, but with the exception of a few quarterly billing periods, it has been in line with other 1 -family homes. I see that the following bills showed a higher than normal level of consumption:

• Sept. 1998: this may have been caused by seasonal usage over the summer months. • Dec. 1997 • Sept. 1996: this may also be a seasonal usage issue. • March 1996 • Sept. 1995: possible seasonal usage.

Your current consumption is 0.21 hundred cubic feet (hcf) per day. The consumption over the last 4 quarters, prior to the June 1999 bill, was 0.40 (March 1999), 0.55 (Dec. 1998), 0.82 (Sept. 1998) and 0.61 (June 1998). With the exception of the Sept. bill which may reflect seasonal usage seen on this account each year, your consumption is within the range for a I- family dwelling.

Consumption may be affected by a number of factors, including the number of people residing in the home, their water-consuming habits, the presence of high water-consuming fixtures and/or appliances and leaks. While your consumption is low at this time, you may want to participate in DEP's free Residential Water Survey. Our contractor, Honeywell DMC, will inspect your home for leaks, install low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators and provide water-saving information to you. There is no cost to you for this service. You can schedule an appointment by calling (718) 326-9426.
