RE: DOH Award Ceremony
The NYC Department of Health will be hosting its First Annual Awards Ceremony on December 14, 2000. This event offers us a wonderful opportunity to recognize and honor people and organizations who support the mission of the Department and the direction of this Administration. Attached please find an invitation along with the list of individuals and organizations to be honored. The Mayor and Deputy Mayors are invited to join and participate, as we acknowledge many of the advances in public health made during this Administration's tenure.
According to the Controller's Internal Control & Accountability Directive #6 (Section 14.4) "Agencies may not pay the cost of personal items such as pictures, brochures, certificates, medallions, awards, and prizes unless purchased as part of an employee incentive and recognition award or for a function sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Special Events."
While the majority of people attending this event are Department of Health employees, the event itself may not necessarily fit the definition of an employee incentive or recognition event. We are therefore request sponsorship from the Mayor's Office of Special Events in order to pay for the Awards Ceremony with city funds. We anticipate the event will cost approximately $10,000. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
