MAYOR GIULIANI AND GOVERNOR PATAKI ANNOUNCE $1 BILLION ASSISTANCE PLAN FOR COMPANIES AFFECTED BY WTC DISASTER
Plan Includes Loans, Relocation Assistance, Reconstruction Bonds And Tourism Promotion Assistance
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Governor George E. Pataki today announced details of the City/State Immediate Assistance Plan. The $1 billion comprehensive plan provides assistance for large, mid-sized and small businesses, potential developers and the tourism industry.
"The components of this plan will accelerate the reconstruction and rebirth of Lower Manhattan and breathe new life into the businesses and that were affected by the horrific events of September 11," said Mayor Giuliani. "The resistance and resilience of New Yorkers has been clearly demonstrated since that day, and it is incumbent on the City and State to reinforce their resilience with as comprehensive and meaningful benefits package as possible."

Employee relocation assistance of up to $750 million is being made available for businesses that occupied space destroyed or rendered uninhabitable by the attack. Businesses that relocate within New York City may be eligible to receive grants of up to $10,000 per employee over three years. The program also provides up to $60 million in grants for businesses that suffered uninsured physical damages. These grants will cover the first $10,000 of uninsured losses and ten percent of losses above $10,000 up to $100,000 per firm
