This is a brief follow-up to our just prior to leaving for Thanksgiving. N.Y.B. delegation meeting
We all have a big stake in this Federal government not only to do what state. We all want the to help in other areas and with the President promised, but other amounts. I am not exercised by the recent turn of events. Maybe I'm being Pollyannaish, but I honestly feel that the best course is to take the President at his word. He will deliver; we, the N.Y. delegation, will help him deliver; the leadership will help him deliver; politically he has to deliver. The President, as I read the signals, is saying — word is my bond, but I have a timing Look my problem if you do not need., the full $ 20 billion now -- then first in order to hold the budget to $ 686 billion and secondly not to encourage discretionary other big expenditures from the Senate, I'd appreciate it if you would give us a little slack. You need the money — you have it. But to fit the forecasted figures into a budget for 2002 with some reasonable discipline as never before, we need to figure the precise timing of cash needs.
