Dear Dan:

Here's an update. We have now succeeded in arranging for the reopening of the downtown TKTS discount booth near the Federal Customs House by the ferries. The booth will open on Thursday of this week and then we will have an "official" opening, which we hope the Mayor will attend, a few days later.

There is another more urgent matter we now need to address. Through a lot of hard work on my tax partner's part, my associates and yours truly, we have developed a very powerful tax proposal to help the theatre business throughout the city. We have on board Chuck Schumer and Charlie Rangel. In brief, it is based on the Empowerment Zone tax legislation which was spearheaded by Rangel and Robert Ruben several years ago. Both Schumer and Rangel and their respective staff are very enthusiastic about the idea and are giving it their full support. HOWEVER, we need to make sure the Mayor also is in support of the proposal. I cannot believe he would not be in full support. Can you give someone a call, perhaps Bruce, to let him know that we need the Mayor to sign off on this? This is motherhood. I know the Mayor will be thrilled to endorse it.
