Subject: Subway Entrance Closure at the Northeast Corner of John and Nassau Christopher 0. Ward Streets Commissioner Dear Mr. Malvasio:

As you are aware from our previous correspondences, the NYC DEP has Robert C. Avaltroni Deputy Commissioner been removing debris from the collapse of the WTC from exterior building surfaces since June 2002. A NYSDOL licensed asbestos contractor with NYC DEP and Bureau of NYSDOL certified workers performs the cleaning activities and an independent air Environmental Compliance monitor Performs air sampling. The NYC DEP monitors the cleaning activities.

Tel (718) 595-4418 The building at 39 John Street, AKA, 72-78 Nassau Street is scheduled for Fax (718) 595-4422 cleaning of exterior surfaces. We are q requesting your assistance and cooperation for closure of the subway entrance at the northeast corner of John Street and Nassau Street for the cleaning of the building facades. This program is coming to a close and we would appreciate your help in expediting this request. The DEP would like to start the cleaning on Sunday, November 10, 2002 at 8:00 a.m. We expect the work to take approximately six hours.
