Response to Rejection Due To Elevated TEM Costs
Dear Ms. Theoderellys:
JLC Environmental Consultants, Inc. (JLC) appreciates your continued
consideration for the provision of specialized Asbestos and HAZMAT Services.
We would like you to process a request for payment for additional work. The
reason why JLC Environmental is looking to be compensated at an elevated rate
for TEM Analysis is due to the fact that we were being charged one rate ($30.00)
for our TEM analysis at the onset of this contract. When we sent the final
clearance samples to the lab for analysis the laboratory we were utilizing (Sci-
Lab) decided, after already prepping the samples and holding them for over 6
hours, that they would not analyze the samples unless we agreed to pay them
$100.00 per sample (Attachment A). This price difference is reflected in the
billing statements that are attached with this letter (Attachment B). In looking at
these statements you will see that up until April 4, 2003 we were being charged
$30.00 per sample for every AHERA Protocol TEM. On April 4, 2003 we were
charged $100 per sample and a $25 per prep charge. In our billing you will see
that we paid that elevated price on over 64 Samples. The statement date is not
the analysis date. Once this change in price was implemented we immediately
called the DEP an informed them of the dilemma. As a response to this
reprehensible action we contacted ATC and requested, that their lab complete all
additional sampling. In looking the statements sent by ATC (Attachment C) you
would see that we had to pay $85 a sample for an additional 30 samples.
All of these costs were not taken into consideration when we originally bid on this
contract. It was our understanding that we would only be paying $30.00 per
sample for the duration of this contract, which was not the case
We felt that it would be in every ones best interest to sign this letter in order to
get the expedited review that we needed for these samples. This is the reason
