Re: Clean up of dust and asbestos containing dust and debris at 69 Murray Street, Manhattan

Locations: Lobby, third floor apartment south windowsill, the upper and lower penthouse roofs and the elevator car. Does not include any exterior structures.

Surface types: All, including contents.

Starting Date: October 16, 2001 9:00 am.

Scope of work:

The Lobby areas and roofs showed levels of asbestos above one percent by weight. All other areas showed trace amounts, less than one percent, with the exception of the inner south 3`d floor windowsill. Lobby is approximately 1800 square feet. Roof is approximately 2,500 square feet.

A remote showering unit will be set up on the lobby level near the elevator. This area will be precleaned. All areas will be cleaned as an asbestos abatement project in accordance with all the applicable regulations of N.Y.S. Industrial Code Rule 56 and N.Y.C. Title 15 with the exception of the apartments, basement and first floor store because samples taken showed less than one percent asbestos or contain only light dust. However, all of these areas will be cleaned using HEPA vacuums and wet wiping methodology. The windowsill area of the third floor apartment that contains less than 10 square feet of asbestos dust & debris will be cordoned off and treated as a minor asbestos project.

Isolation barriers will be erected as necessary and/or appropriate. H.E.P.A. filtered air filtration units will be set up in all areas to constantly filter the air and stop the asbestos fibers from entering uncontaminated portions of the space. We clean all work areas and all contents using H.E.P.A. vacuuming and wet wiping methodology. All asbestos containing debris will be double bagged in 6 mil polyethylene asbestos bags and transported to a D.E.C. approved disposal site. A copy of the landfill waste manifest will be mailed to the owners upon our receipt.
