Dear Mr. Radhakrishnan:
Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) is the environmental consultant representing the owner of the captioned location. On their behalf, PSI is responding to your inquiry concerning sampling results following the collapse of the World Trade Center.
Please be advised that the captioned location is a five-story building that was closed with restricted access from September 11, 2001, until recently. PSI performed ambient air monitoring for asbestos at the building on January 29, 2002. One air sample was collected from each floor and analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) methodology. The samples were analyzed by EMSL of New York City which is certified by the New York State Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP # 11506). The results indicate levels below those allowed for clearance sampling by AHERA following abatement in schools. While AHERA regulations are not applicable to this situation, PSI chose this method, as it is generally considered to be the most stringent industry standard. The results of the January 29, 2002 sampling event are attached to this letter, with a copy of the chain of custody.
