Full Particle Identification: Full Particle Identification sampling was performed inside
and outside of the 4 floor area. This testing uses Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM),
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and
X-Ray Refraction (XRD) to identify nearly all particles from cotton fibers, dander and
dust mites to unusual materials such as carbon black, metal oxides and minerals. Also
included are the identification of any fungal allergens.
The following samples were taken in the floor 4"' floor apartment;
• 1 Air Sample for full particle XD.
• 1 Air sample for full particle ID for fungal components inside only
• 1 Air sample for full particle ID for fungal components (Outside baseline)
• I Bulk Dust sample full particle ID including fungal components
A review of the EMSL Analytical data indicates no hazardous materials present nor any
excessive fungal components. The array of particles containing rust, paint fragments,
gypsum and quartz are most likely the result of the ongoing brick pointing being
performed on the building exterior.
Hazardous Monitoring_: Listed below are the results of gas detection monitoring
performed during the investigation at the above referenced site. All monitoring was
performed using an AIM3000 4 gas detector and an Miniltae VOC detector, according to
the following guidelines:
• The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
Standards and Regulations contained in Title 29, Code of Federal
Regulations, Parts 1910 and 1920 (29 CFR 1910 and 1920);
• Subsequent additions and/or modifications, the New York State Labor
Law Section 876 (Right-To-Know Law);
• The Interim Standard Operating Safety Guidelines by the United
States Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of Emergency
and Remedial Response;
• Additional OSHA regulations;
• National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
pocket guide; and
• The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists
(ACGIH) handbook.
All monitoring was performed by RKM INC, Tim Donohoe in compliance with
applicable regulations. Reported results are the highest readings found during
sampling. All gas detection results reported normal, non-hazardous conditions.
