Pursuant to Section 25-310 of the Adnvnistrative Code of the City of New York, the Landmarks Preservation
Commission hereby approves certain alterations to the subject premises as proposed in your application completed
on June 21, 2002.
The approved work consists of cleaning the facade of the building of debris related to the collapse of the
World Trade Center, including removing all loose debris using, on the horizontal surfaces, non-metallic
bristle brushes or scrapers, followed up by wet wiping and, at the horizontal and vertical surfaces, a low
pressure water rinse of not more than 250 PSI, as described in specifications prepared the City of New York
Department of Environmental Protection and submitted as components of this application
In reviewing this proposal, the Commission noted that the Tribeca South Historic District Designation Report
describes 119 Chambers Street as an Italianate style store and loft building constructed in 1858. The
Commission also notes that there is some debris on the facade.
Staff has reviewed these specifications and finds that the work on the facade will not require the removal of
any significant protected architectural material; and that it will not detract from the architectural
character of the building or streetscape. Therefore, the Commission has no objection to the work proceeding
at this time, or the issuance of permits by any other city agency.
A copy of this permit have been sent to the Department of Environmental Protection.
This permit is issued on the basis of the building and site conditions described in the application and disclosed
