Pursuant to Section 25-310 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York, the Landmarks Preservation
Commission hereby approves certain alterations to the subject premises as proposed in your application completed
on July 15, 2002.
The approved work consists of cleaning the roof of the building of debris related to the collapse of the
World Trade Center, including collecting all loose debris, washing loose gravel, and wet wiping other
surfaces, as described in specifications prepared the City of New York Department of Environmental Protection
and submitted as components of this application
In reviewing this proposal, the Commission notes that the Tribeca South Historic District Designation Report
describes 112 Reade Street as an Italianate style store and loft building built in 1860. The Commission also
notes that there is some debris on the roof.
Staff has reviewed these specifications and finds that the work on the roof will not require the removal of
any significant protected architectural material; that it will not detract from the architectural character
of the building or streetscape; and that cleaning the roof will bring the building closer to its historic
condition. Therefore, the Commission has no objection to the work proceeding at this time, or the issuance of
permits by any other city agency.
A copy of this permit have been sent to the Department of Environmental Protection.
