memorandum

subject: NY World Trade Center Industrial hygiene Data

date: 9/2.S/2001

cc: rod Turpin

Here is the industrial hygiene sampling data from the International Union of Operating Engineers National I lazinat Program. The data is contained within a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file. The file contains two workbooks, one labeled “Lead & Total Dust” and one labeled “Asbestos.” Each workbook contains all of the data we have collected as of noon, September 25, 2001.

Because no fibers greater than 5 micrometers were found on these samples, the data show that die operators and areas sampled are below the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists’ Threshold Limit Value fllAj and the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL), both of which are 0.1 fibers per cubic centimeter (f/cc). Sampling and analysis was conducted according to the AHERA method.

Lead was sampled and analyzed according to NMAM 7300. All lead samples were less than the limit of quantification (0.38 micrograms). Total dust was sampled and analyzed according to NALAH 0500. Total dust results were less than the PEL of 15 milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m’) and die TLVoflOmg/mA
