hundreds of millions of guns on the streets of this country. And other countries that don’t allow guns have a lot fewer murders than we do. Not all, but there’s no reason why you cannot do something about this problem and at the same time protect the constitutional right to bear arms.

Gambling: Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Right back here where he belongs. It’s 77 WABC. Lot’s more to talk about. We’re coming right back.

BREAK

Gambling: We continue. Mayor Michael Bloomberg is with us today. I understand that we’re going be abbreviated this morning. You’re actually going to leave early.

Mayor: A plaque dedication for a firefighter who was killed in Iraq- former police officer then firefighter. Engeldrum is the guy’s name.

Gambling: Christian.

Mayor: Christian Engeldrum. You know, it’s dangerous in the streets, it’s certainly dangerous overseas and this is one of those guys who devoted his life to public service. It’s very sad. The MTA is trying to provide a service where the public doesn’t want to pay any more. And that’s understandable. And we want to make sure that the subways are safe and clean and reliable because mass transit is really the only solution to get around this city. So hopefully they’ll come to an agreement, and you know, the sad history of these is that the brinksmanship typically gets them together. You always think, why couldn’t they do it weeks before. But the City is going to go through all of its planning so that we have in place procedures the best we can to allow people to get around. It would be devastating to
