Mr. Bernard P. Orlan June 26, 2002 Indoor Air Quality Measurements Page 4 Stuyvesant High School /M477) ATC Project No. 15-19125-0246

* The measurements made during this assessment were instantaneous readings, the NPAAQS is a 24-hour average.

TVOC Concentration

TVOCs inside the building were 0.0 ppm for all readings. The outdoor TVOC concentrations were also 0.0 ppm.

OBSERVATIONS

During this assessment, ATC noted the following: • The interior of the building appeared clean and free of dust and debris; • The building was occupied at the time of the assessment; • No smoke odor was detected in the building; • The barge operation at Pier 25 has been shut down.

FINDINGS

Based on the real-time measurements, the following findings are presented:

1. Concentrations of CO and TVOCs were within applicable standards and guidelines. 2. Fifty-nine (59) of the indoor temperature measurements were below the range of 73 to 79°F (at 50 percent relative humidity) recommended by ASHRAE Standard 55-1992 during the mechanical cooling season (summertime conditions). 3. One (1) of the indoor measurements for relative humidity was above the ASHRAE- recommended range of 30 to 60 percent for occupant comfort. 4. None of the indoor measurements were above the NPAAQS of 65 pg/m^ 24-hour average concentration of particulate matter 2.5 micrometers or less in aerodynamic diameter or above the USEPA recommendation of 40 g/m^ for sensitive individuals and children. 5. All of the indoor COj measurements were within the ASHRAE Standard 62-1999 recommended maximum concentration of <700 ppm above the background level.
