PROCEDURES

Air filter samples are collected in the field and submitted to Clean Air Testing in the original cassette with appropriate descriptive paperwork, which includes the sample time, and pump flow rate for each cassette. Clean Air Testing Labs, perform a variety of analytical tests on air samples. Listed Below is an air method regularly performed.

/TF.IVfl Transmission F-ler-tron Miernscopy- AHP.R A Analysis and Clearance Protncf>1s-f4fi CFR Part 763. Appendix A to Snbpart R)

The AHERA method uses a >5:1 fiber aspect ratio and sets 0.5 urn as the minimum fiber length.■ Data is reported in ranges for all structures >0.5 microns in length and separately .for those structures >5.0 microns in.length. Restrictions on sample media, flow rate, sample loading and uniformity (as "observed in the TEM) are set in order to assure reliable data, The AHERA method requires that the area of analysis be varied, in order to provide an analytical sensitivity of 0.005 structures/oc of air for all sample.

Settled Dust Analysis is utilized at Clean Air Testing Labs, for a number of different applications. Analysis may involve a qualitative evaluation in order to screen for a variety or potential allergens or hazardous materials. Listed below is a Dust Methods regularly performed by Clean Air Testing Labs, Inc.

(TEM) ASTM D5755-95 Standard_Test Mathod for.Micro-vacuum Sampling and Indirect Analysis o£ Dust, by Transmission Electron. Microscopy for Asbestos Structure Number Concentrations. This test method covers a procedure to identify ^asbestos in dust and provide an estimate of the concentration of asbestos in the sampled dust reported as the number of asbestos structured per unit area of samples surface. This test method is generally applicable for an estimate of the concentration'.of.asbestos structures starting fr'om approximately 1000 ' asbestos structures per square centimeter. If an estimate of the. asbest.o's mass is to be determined, the user is referred to Test .Method .D5756.
