Mr. Bernard P. Orlan September 19, 2002 Air Sampling for Mercury Vapor Page2 H.S. for Leadership & Pub. Service (894M) ATC Project No. 15-19125-0290

Mercury is a known trace contaminant of the Carulite® sampling medium, the results suggest that this is the source of the mercury detected.

The established regulatory value for mercury (GSHA: O.lmg/m^) is intended for industrial workplace exposures and is not generally applicable to office/school settings. There are no standards for mercury in indoor air in non-industrial situations. The EPA has no standard or guideline for mercury'vapor in ambient air.

ATC appreciates the opportunity to provide this indoor air quality service to the DOE. Please call (212) 353-8280 extension 298 or 212 if you have any questions.

Sincerely, ATC Associates, Inc. Reviewed by:
