Mr. Bernard P. Orlan February 7, 2002 Air Sampling for Hydrocarbons Page 2 P. S, 89 (Manhattan) ATC Project No. 15-19125-0297

Results

The only HC compound present above the limit of detection was chloroform which was detected in the floor hallway sample at a concentration of 0.16 pans per million. Chloroform is used as

a solvent for commercial waxes and resins and may have been present as the result of the waxing and polishing of the floors in the school in preparation for re-opening.

None of the other HCs in the. panel were present in the other samples above the limits of detection for the analyses.

ATC appreciates the opportunity to provide this air quality service to tine BOE. Please call me at (212) 353-8280 extension 212 if you have any questions.

Sincerely, . ATC Associates, Inc.
