Results

March 15

Chromium (Cr), iron (Fe) and lead (Pb) were found above the limits of detection. Cr and Pb were also detected in the blank. Subtracting the Cr content of the blank from concentrations in the samples reduces those concentrations by approximately 50% to 0.00016 - 0.000315 mg/m\ Blank-correcting the Pb concentrations lowers them to below the limit of detection. Fe was detected in two samples (Main Lobby, Ml and Roof, M4) at 0.00177 and 0.00147 mg ml

March 22

Cr was detected in all four samples, Pb and Fe were detected in one sample. Cr and Fe were detected in the blank. Blank-correcting the Cr and Pb concentrations in the samples lowers them to below or just above the limits of detection. Fe was detected in the Main Lobby sample (Ml) at 0.00171 mg/m^

March 29

The only metal detected was Cr, however blank-correcting the Cr concentrations in the samples lowers them to below the limit of detection.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set a screening level for hexavalent chromium (the more toxic: form) in air of 0.6 micrograms per cubic meter of air (ug/m^), this assumes a continuous exposure for one year. The samples here were analyzed for total chromium (trivalent and hexavalent).

The EPA has an ambient air standard for Pb of 1.5 ug/m^, based on a three-month exposure.

The EPA has no screening level or standard for Fe in ambient air.

ATC appreciat£;s the opportunity to provide this indoor air quality service to the BOE. Please call me at (212) 353 -8280 extension 212 if you have any questions.

Sincerely, ATC Associates, Inc.
