4. Goggles: provide eye protection (goggles) as required by OSHA for all workers involved in any activity that may potentially cause eye injury. Require them to be worn at all times during these activities. Thoroughly clean and decontaminate goggles before removing them from the work area.
5. Gloves: provide work gloves to ail workers, of the type dictated by the Work and OSHA Standards. Require that gloves be worn at all times in the Work area. Do not remove gloves from the Work area. Dispose of as construction waste at the end ofthe work.
B. Reusable footwear, hard hats and eye protection devices shall be left in the contaminated "Equipment Room" until the end ofthe Abatement Work.
C. Disposable protective clothing shall be discarded and disposed of as construction waste every time the wearer exits from the work space to the outside through the decontamination fecility.
2.02 ADDITIONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
A. Respirators, disposable coveralls, head covers and foot covers shall be provided by the Contractor for the Owner, Ambient Group, Inc. and any other authorized representative who may enter the work area.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 GENERAL;
A. Provide worker protection as required by the most stringent NYSDOL, OSHA and/or EPA standards applicable to the work.
B. Each time the work area is entered, remove all street clothes in the Clean Room of the Personnel Decontamination Unit and put on new disposable coverall, new head cover, and a clean respirator. Proceed through shower room to equipment room and put on work boots.
C. Care must be taken to provide sufficient number of workers so that individuals are not subjected to undue heat stress. Contractor must provide sufficient work breaks for its crews.
3.02 DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES:
A. Before leaving the work area, with the respirator still on, worker is to vacuum off all clothing and exposed skin areas. It may be necessary for this to be accomplished by one worker assisting another. The first set of disposable clothing shall be deposited in properly labeled bags located in the work area. Workers then proceed into the Equipment Room of Decontamination Facility where additional personnel decontamination with HEPA vacuum and soft brush takes place and second set of overalls is disposed of.
