• If cleaning cloths/mops are not reused, place used items in plastic bags while wet then dispose in your trash. • Surfaces that cannot be cleaned by wet cleaning methods can be cleaned by HEPA vacuuming. • Outdoor surfaces with small accumulations of dust can be cleaned by HEPA vacuuming or by wet moping/wiping if the surface type allows. When cleaning outdoor areas such as terraces precautions should be taken to prevent dust and other materials from falling to the side walk or properties below. • Dust from outdoors can be carried home on your shoes so remove them before going inside or wet wipe them. • Pets can also track material inside. Make sure to wipe their feet with a damp cloth before coming inside. • Clean more frequently than normal to minimize dust accumulation and dust levels in air. • Dust can accumulate on your hands during cleaning. Wash your hands after cleaning, before eating, drinking, and before smoking. Additional Ways To Improve Your Indoor Air Quality

The use of HEPA air purifying devices in living areas can be an effective way of reducing the amount of dust circulating in the air. The HEPA air purifying units are sold in various sizes depending on room size and are available at local hardware and retail stores . In addition, some HEPA purifying units come equipped with charcoal or carbon filters that can remove minor, nuisance level odors. Additional information on the selection and purchase of residential air cleaning devices can be obtained from the Environmental Protection Agency’s website at www.epa.gov/iaq/pub/residair Consideration should be given to upgrading the filters for the buildings air conditioning system. A professional heat and air specialist can provide advice on upgrading the filtration system. An upgraded filter can greatly improve the air quality of the building. Air conditioning filters should be changed on a frequent basis to insure clean air is provided to the building. Clean on regular basis to prevent dust buildup using the wet methods described previously. Seal around windows and outer openings to prevent the introduction of dust and fine particles into the home.
