RE: Air Monitoring at 20 sites in World Trade Center Vicinity

As you know, we have been conducting air monitoring at 20 sites in the vicinity of the World Trade Center. The existing contract with Riverpoint is due to expire on April 4, 2002.

It has been determined that it would be prudent and in the best interests of public health and safety to continue this monitoring while remediation efforts and excavation are underway. A new contract is in the process of being developed and bid to provide for this service. This contract will also include the task of air monitoring during remediation of roof tops and building facades.

It is critical that we monitor the air during these ongoing operations. A copy of the scope of work is attached. The total cost of the contract is estimated to be $548,200 which includes an estimate for the 20 sites of $ 189,000. The contract is to be in effect for a period of 120 days.

If you require any additional information, please contact Virginia Smyth or myself.
